Our puppies are born and raised in our home where they are loved, handled daily, and properly socialized. They will have regular dewormings and their first shots at 6 weeks of age. If the pup is with us longer than 8 weeks he/she will also get shots at 9 & 12 weeks of age.
Our hunt/field/agility/companion pups are registered with AKC on limited registration. This means the pup is AKC registered but can not enter in breed competition, such as Westminster or Crufts. They are eligible to enter all other AKC competitions such as obedience, agility and hunt/field trials. All puppies have the inbred ability to participate in hunt/field trials and do well. Proper training is required to see their full potential.
Approved puppies may be purchased under full AKC registration if they are going into show homes and/or have show potential at an early age. All pups have show and field champion pedigrees from England and the United States. Since they are registered with the American Kennel Club it makes them eligible for registration with all other registries worldwide. All puppies come with shot records, AKC registration application, pedigree, health guarantee, puppy food, collar and toy. Eukanuba puppy packs can also be provided if requested in advance.
We do require a non-refundable deposit of $200. First deposit gets first pick of the litter. The deposit will hold your puppy until he's ready to leave at 8 weeks of age. The remaining amount, in cash, is due upon pickup. If you need us to keep the puppy longer we can do so for a small fee of $40 (for the 9th & 12th week - covers shots/food) and $10 per week (weeks 10 & 11 - covers food). Anything after week 12 will include extra training and a boarding fee; not to exceed a total of $50 per week.
When you purchase a puppy from Durdens Labrador Retrievers you are taking on a lifetime commitment. You agree to keep the puppy utd on yearly vaccinations, rabies and dewormer. You also agree to keep the puppy on heartworm preventative (especially if he/she is an outdoor or hunt/field pup). If at any time in the dogs life you can not keep him/her you agree to return him to us. If we believe a puppy is being mistreated we reserve the right to take him/her back after having discussed the situation with you. We stand by our puppies and will answer any questions or concerns you may have and are available via email (for quickest response).
Your puppy will be utd on shots, dewormer, and will have had his/her first heartworm preventative by 6 weeks of age. You will need to get your puppy to your vet within 48 hours of purchase for a general check-up to ensure that he/she is healthy *as promised!*. If there is any environmental health problem found by your vet we request that you email/send us the vet statement as to what is wrong, why, the treatment and amount. If our vet confirms this diagnosis we agree to split the cost of treatment with you.
Your puppies hips/elbows/eyes are guaranteed for 26 months from the date of birth. If, during this time, your pup is found to have moderate/severe HD, confirmed by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals due to genetics, we offer the following options. Provide us with a copy of the OFA findings and we will 1. offer you a pup from the next litter and you can keep your current pup or 2. offer to take this pup back and provide you with a pup from another litter. This guarantee is valid as long as the puppy hasn't had any undue stress on his joints (excessive running, stair climbing or jumping during the first 2 years), is utd on shots/vaccines, is utd on heartworm preventative, is not considered overweight and has been eating good quality food (Nutro Large Breed, Royal Canin Labrador Retriever, Blue Buffalo Large Breed, or Eukanuba Active Performance). OFA results are valid starting at 24 months of age. Preliminary x-rays can be done through PennHip but are not as accurate.
Again, you have taken on a lifetime commitment with a DLR puppy. We hope you enjoy your new Lab for many years to come. We request montly updates and pictures until 1 year of age. We'd like to know if you compete in agility, obedience, or hunt/field (or if you hunt for fun with him/her) trials as well. It's always good to know what the pups do as they get older as it lets us know that they are living up to their breeding and our standards.
